OUT OF THE BLACK is a rock band that has been running out of Vancouver, BC since the fall of 2017. Their music takes the soulfulness of blues and mixes it with the upbeat passion of punk and alternative rock. Using their music as a platform for mental health awareness they strive to make a difference for people much like themselves.
Chelsea Forster (Voice & Bass), was born and raised in the Greater Vancouver area. She started her music career very young at the age of four and started writing when she was ten. She has continued writing music throughout her life and performing with piano, voice and musical theatre, until she went to the VCC School of Music for Composition, and later the UBC School of Music. Now she uses her platform to talk openly about mental health and abuse, letting people know they are never alone.
Brian Sherwood (Guitar & Voice), was born in Salmon Arm, BC and moved to Merritt later in his life, where he taught himself guitar at twelve. He rocked his heart out, often playing open mic nights and jamming with friends, in Merritt until he moved to Vancouver in 2013. After a few years of soul searching he picked up his guitar again in 2016 and since then he has been writing music and playing with a collection of different bands, honing his skills and broadening his musical prowess. But now his primary loyalty is with Out Of The Black, where him and his Wife Chelsea lead the band together.
Fukuo Suzuki (Drums) is from Japan. The rest is a secret. *Shh...
